PRESS RELEASE

Intel Announces Intent to Acquire Oplus Technologies, Inc.
Intel Corp., whose microchips power most of the world's computers,
on Thursday took another step toward beefing up its consumer electronics
ambitions by announcing it will acquire an Israeli chip maker that
specializes in processors for flat panel and plasma screens.
The acquisition
of privately held Oplus Technologies Inc. will provide Intel technology
to develop and market integrated circuits and software for digital
displays used in everything from computer monitors to home entertainment
systems. Terms of the deal were not announced.
Intel has been
pushing its digital home platforms initiative in which consumers'
digital set-top-boxes, media recorders, and televisions would all
be networked together. The acquisition of Oplus would give Intel more
capability in building chips to power advanced video processing for
digital television and displays.
Yokneam, Israel-based
Oplus sells three lines of video processors aimed at digital televisions
currently on the market. The company, which has 100 employees, will
continue to sell products under its own name.
